My applets all display this message when loaded in a web page with IE Firefox does not do this : Press SPACEBAR or ENTER to activate and use this control.

Many of you have might have seen this message when running applets
on Windows. One thing I don t understand is even if I press Spacebar
or Enter, nothing happens. The only way to activate the control is to
click inside the border of the applet.
Well, somehow I can activate the control but this message is lying in
I Suddenly got curious Anybody have an idea.
I think that s a question of where the focus is. Generally, the focus will not be on the applet when the page is loaded, so for the applet to see any keystrokes, it needs to get the focus first which is done by clicking on it.

Choose carefully, this can t be changed
You better check out siebel alert 1222. Siebel informed all their customers
since early February about this issue.
Basicically, since the April MS cumulative update for Windows XP you need t
o apply a compatibility patch from Microsoft to use siebel in normal way. S
iebel informed their customers dedicated contacts, and supportweb that yo
u must upgrade to a maintanance3 release to fix the issue. Upgrade before t
he JUNE MS cumulative update for Windows XP. . Seems you did not do that. I
f you can not upgrade to the correct version than you could / should have a
sked Microsoft for another compatibility patch not available at windows up
date.com. See siebel alert 1222 for detailed instructions.
Short term solution.. de-install the JUNE windows XP cumulative update a
nd potetnially re-apply the compatibility update from April

include a new ActiveX management which is not compatible

Microsoft did provide a fix for April release, and does
include a new one to be asked to Microsoft, not available
Siebel Alert 1222 covers this issue comprehensively. Suggest you check it out on SupportWeb. We have had to go through a Fix release upgrade to circumvent the problem.
i have checked the alert and tried installing the patch they have given,bu
that couldnot install check the version but everything seems to be
the compatibility update KB919010 for the JUNE cumulative Windows XP upda
te KB916281 can ONLY be obtained from Microsoft after you request them. I
T IS NOT available for download in the usual places. So I guess you are not

Ok, you didn t post the actual error message, but from what I experienced with different client PCs is, that the machine doesn t yet have XP SP2 installedand KB 917425 is dependant on that.

My question is installing KB919010 is enough or should we also go for Siebe
Fix Pack. Because our Siebel production and development servers don t
install any new patches that are released my Microsoft month after month,
it is only that the thin client machines get installed with the new MS
patches. So in this case should we go for Siebel Fix Pack for servers.
my company is currently rolling out KB919010 for Windows XP SP2 siebel 7 us
ers only. I do not know if this patch number is specific to my company, but
would assume not. It comes in 20 Locale versions and is intended to be dep
loyed to the clients. I have also seen 20 more windows 2003 server locale v
ersions of this file. We do not deploy them at all so far.
This patch will only work until the August Windows XP SP2 cumulative update

We are using Siebel 7.5.3.4 at our development and production environments.
I have properly checked the support web for instructions on configuration
changes needed after applying fix patch 7.5.3.15, but haven t got any clear
instructions. Does any one have document on this. email removed.
